Digging Princeton: Ceramics Workshop at Herrontown Woods

  • Friends of Herrontown Woods 600 Snowden Lane Princeton, NJ, 08540 United States (map)

Rumor has it that the renowned artist and ceramicist Toshiko Takaezu shaped her artwork from clay harvested at Herrontown Woods.

Already a celebrated artist in both Japan and the USA, in 1967 Takaezu came to Princeton to teach ceramics in the Program in Visual Arts at Princeton University, a post she held until 1992.

Thus inspired, participants in this workshop create ceramic objects from they clay they will dig right out of the ground at Herrontown Woods. In the spirit of physically reconnecting with historical processes, those interested in throwing pottery can try their hand (and feet) using the onsite kick wheel. Whether hand-building or throwing, we look forward to a fun, productive, and grounding workshop. This workshop is co-organized with the Princeton Arts Council.

Fee: $50.00 Arts Council Members | $55.00 Non-Members
