Earth Day Celebration 2025! “Stewarding Your Local Environment”

Now, Sunday, April 13! In celebration of Earth Day, the Friends of Herrontown Woods invites you to join us for a day of exploring and learning in nature. Walk, bike, or run over to the Woods!

(Check back regularly for an updated schedule and added events!!)

9 AM - 3 PM | May’s Popup Café There will be coffee, spicebush tea, sandwiches, baked treats, and other fare for purchase through the day in the Barden and at the Veblen House.

9 AM and 11 AM | Flowers and Frogs. (2) Family Hikes. Hikes are moderate. Boots/Galoshes recommended. Please sign up below!

10 AM - 11:30 AM | Geology Walk. You’ll learn about the formation of the Princeton Ridge and its special rocks. This has limited capacity so please sign up below!

11 AM – 1 PM | Circus Quercus - A Multi-Generational Experience

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM | Foraging

12 PM - 1 PM | Children’s Walk Through the Woods

1 PM | Children’s Story Time with Princeton Public Library - at the Veblen House Gardens

A Special Thanks to Ficus, the Princeton Public Library, and all those whose support enables this Earth Day Celebration.

Parking: Bike racks will be available next to the Barden. For cars, please park at Smoyer Park across the street from the Herrontown Woods. There is very limited onsite parking at the main parking lot, next to the Barden and near Veblen House and we need to ensure emergency access.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST THROUGHOUT THE DAY!


Sign-up for Hikes

For all walks and hikes: Please wear sturdy shoes/boots. The trails may be muddy in spots. We will meet at the main parking lot at the end of Snowden Lane, by the kiosk. (Drivers, we encourage you to park at Smoyer Park and walk down [map].)
