May’s Garden Club at Herrontown Woods

Grow Little Gardener is pleased to offer children’s gardening classes at Herrontown Woods for pre-K and early elementary-aged kids. In these sessions led by Mathilde Burlion, trained as a Master Gardener and local mom, kids learn the art of gardening through practice, play, and discovery. Children of all ages are welcome to sign up. Parents must accompany children.

What to expect: Every session will involve tending the vegetable garden. Kids will also participate in guided nature walks and explore nature in the Herrontown Woods. Fun outdoor games will also be part of the garden club! Children will practice planting and caring for crops; learn about the soil, plant seeds, and insects; learn to recognize common ground covers, shrubs, and trees found in the woods; learn how to identify and protect oneself from ticks, poison ivy, etc.; and engage in water play (expect muddy boots).
